BIOGRAPHY

Mijke Slot (1979) studied Art and Culture Studies (Bachelor) and Media and Journalism (Masters) at Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands. In October 2004, she graduated Cum Laude by presenting her masterthesis 'Work in Progress', a research about Dutch game developers in the international game industry (see publications).

From September 2004 until the start of her PhD project she was working as a junior researcher on the research project Cultural Classification Systems in Transition at the Department of Culture and the Arts at Erasmus University Rotterdam, under the guidance of Professor Susanne Janssen.

Since February 2005, Mijke is working on her PhD project about user roles in online media and entertainment services and the way these roles influence user-producer dynamics. Her promotor is Valerie Frissen, Professor ICT and Social Change, Erasmus University Rotterdam, faculty of Philosophy/ TNO ICT and Policy, Delft. Mijke is also involved in other research projects at TNO ICT and Policy.
